        Pattipola Railway Station in Nuwara Eliya District is about 175 km from Colombo. This beautiful Pattipola Railway Station is located between Ambewela Railway Station and Ohiya. This Pattipola Railway Station is located at the highest point in Sri Lanka, at an altitude of 6204 feet or 1891 meters above sea level. Under the leadership of the then Governor of Sri Lanka, Sir Henry Ward, a talented engineer, Mr. P.L. Molesworth, the construction of the railway line was started on August 23, 1858. All trains traveling to Badulla and Bandarawela on the Upcountry Railway Line will stop at Pattipola Railway Station.        Gregory Lake was built in 1873 by the Governor of Sri Lanka, Sir William Gregory, on a beautiful 225-acre site in Nuwara Eliya. Nuwara Eliya Gregory Lake is named after him. It is located in the middle of Nuwara Eliya town and offers recreational activities such as boat rides, pony rides, and air rifle shooting.        Victoria Park is one of the most beautiful parks in the Nuwara Eliya district of Sri Lanka. It is spread over an area of 27 acres. The Nuwara Eliya Victoria Park was established during the British colonial period in 1860 to test the adaptability of crops that could replace coffee, which was destroyed by a fungal disease. It was later renovated in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria's 60th reign and renamed Victoria Park. The park is home to a variety of flowering plants, including rare endemic plants such as the Sri Lankan White Eye, Sri Lankan Scale Feather and Sri Lankan Wood Pigeon, as well as exotic flowers such as hydrangeas, azaleas and petunias. Birds, including the Kashmir Flycatcher, Indian Blue Robin, and Pied Thrush, can also be seen here. The garden is open year-round, but the best time to visit is during the flowering season from March to May and August to September.
