Badulla is the largest city of Uva Province, situated in the central hills of Sri Lanka. It is the capital city of Uva Province and the Badulla District.
Badulla, located southeast of Kandy, is surrounded by the Badulu Oya. It is located at an altitude of 680 meters above sea level and is surrounded by tea plantations. Namunukula Mountain is a place for camping. Climbing this mountain, which is about 2035 meters high, is a truly beautiful experience. During the rainy season, there is no problem with leeches. The easiest way to climb the mountain is to turn off at the 3rd mile post on the Badulla-Passara road. You can drive to the Glenapil Estate very close. You should go and see how beautiful the road is.
This is a very famous and beautiful waterfall in Sri Lanka, located about 5 kilometers from Badulla city. You can reach this 64-meter-high waterfall by walking about 1.5 kilometers from the entrance. Along the way, you can see monkeys, bird species, and butterflies. This is a great place for tourists who are interested in wildlife. But they can only be seen during June and July of the year. Also, if you come between November and March, when there is a lot of water due to the rain, you can see the waterfall very beautifully. Also, this waterfall is a source of water that supplies a large amount of water to Uma Oya, Hal Oya, and other small rivers.
Muthiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya is located in the heart of Badulla city. Muthiyangana Chetiya is the seventh of the ten sacred sites in Sri Lanka. Muthiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya stands as a testament to the rich historical and cultural heritage of Badulla. The association with Emperor Ravana, the arrival of the Buddha, and the subsequent establishment and expansion of the temple complex present a unique blend of mythological, spiritual, and architectural brilliance. Every year, a grand procession called the Muthiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya Perahera is held. This colorful and vibrant festival attracts many visitors to witness the religious and cultural events associated with the temple.
This historic wooden bridge is located in the Bogoda area of Katawawala, about 7 km west of Badulla city. This bridge, which has ancient value, can be viewed at any time of the day. This wooden bridge, which is believed to have been built during the Dambadeniya period in the 16th century, clearly reflects the excellence of wood craftsmanship of that period, and it is special that all the nails used to build this bridge are made of wood.
Beautiful Narangala, with its golden grass, rises up to a height of over 1500m in the Uva Province of Sri Lanka. The summit of this second-highest mountain in Uva provides some of the very best views in the entire tropical island. In addition to it, the reasonable challenge that climbing offers has made it a great favorite amongst hikers.
When you get off at Demodara Station and head towards Ella, you can see this magnificent bridge near Ella Town. Today, it has become a tourist paradise and is a favorite destination for many foreigners. You can get off the train and either take a TUK-TUK or a road through the jungle to this place, and wait for the train to arrive from after. You have to be very careful on this journey because the train goes near a road and there are a lot of leeches in this area.
